Steer-by-Wire technology by ME heads to the Breslau Rally
The project marking the Stegmaier Group's 100th anniversary is taking shape. At its core is the conversion of a MAN TGA 18.480, which is being prepared entirely by trainees on their own for the 2027 Breslau Rally. We are bringing our expertise in electro-hydraulic drives and steer-by-wire systems directly into the workshop.
Our Functional Safety Manager, Eric Gerathewohl, sums it up in the video:
“We have high hopes for this project: First, that we can test our components—such as control units, electric actuators, and sensors—under real rally conditions. Second, we see great value in engaging with the other project partners. And, of course, introducing the trainees to our technology so we can show them everything directly on the actual vehicle.”
For us, practical experience is the top priority. While our hardware must prove its capabilities under extreme conditions, the skilled workers of tomorrow are learning how to work with state-of-the-art commercial vehicle technology. The latest video on the project's progress also features our own off-road MAN, which has already been successfully equipped with our steer-by-wire steering system.
