Steering systems for self-propelled agricultural machinery

Steer-by-Wire as an innovation for large self-propelling vehicles
Design freedom through electronic main steering

Large self-propelled vehicles such as potato or beet harvesters benefit in many ways from the outstanding steer-by-wire technology. By replacing the orbitrol with an electronic steering wheel and controlling it via proportional valves, hoses and mechanical connections from the cab to the steering axle can be completely eliminated.

This creates maximum design freedom:

  • Implementation of swivel seats and lift cabins
  • Easy integration of swivel steering columns

Precise axis coordination and preparation for autonomous driving
Coordination and automation

Our electronics enable perfect coordination of all steering elements:

  • Kingpin-steered front axles
  • Articulated joints
  • Steered rear axles

At the same time, the electronics allow easy connection to higher-level control systems for assisted or autonomous operation.

Field sprayers and chassis control
Individual wheel steering and directional stability for field sprayers

Field sprayers represent another demanding application. Steer-by-Wire allows precise individual wheel steering, with all wheels steered in the correct geometry.

Special advantages:

  • Tracking: The rear wheels follow the front wheels in a straight line
  • Efficiency: Automated turning maneuvers (headland management)

In combination with our chassis control system, chassis can be implemented that meet the highest demands for precision and dynamics.
