Steering systems for semi-trailers

DTS® - The new standard for semi-trailers
The challenge of conventional semi-trailer steering systems

Conventional steering systems for semi-trailers are based either on a heavy hydrostatic displacement circuit in the fifth wheel or on a vulnerable angle sensor in the king pin to control an electronic steering system. The disadvantages are obvious: high weight due to the complex mechanics, risk of damage to the sensor during coupling, and time-consuming reference runs to calibrate the straight-line running.

The solution from ME MOBIL ELEKTRONIK
Electronic steering without mechanical coupling

The innovative solution from ME MOBIL ELEKTRONIK eliminates all these problems. We use DTS® technology, which is well-known in agricultural engineering and has been tried and tested thousands of times, and which does not require a sensor mechanically coupled to the towing vehicle and drawbar.

The advantages for the semi-trailer:

  • No sensors in the king pin
  • No sensor cylinders in the fifth wheel plate
  • Reduced system weight for more payload
  • Available for vehicles up to 80 km/h

At the same time, the electronics offer maximum flexibility in the steering geometry, e.g., for telescopic trailers.

Flexible system architecture for every application
Adaptation to all supply interfaces

The DTS® steering system can be flexibly adapted to any vehicle architecture:

Hydraulic supply

If the supply is provided by a hydraulic system, the steering force is applied via proportional valves.

Electrical supply

Solution based on proven servo-hydraulic power pack via NATO connector or 3-pin Clang socket.
